IS SOCIAL MEDIA NECESSARY TO BE SOCIALIZED ?

It seems we've forgotten the slogan our ancestors taught us: play when you play, eat when you eat, study when you study. I would like to add another: scroll your phone when you've set aside time for it. I'm addressing the issue that while you're studying, a single notification can distract you from a math problem to Mr. Beast videos or anything interesting in your feed. And yes, those YouTubers are earning from it.

YouTube is pretty good, but Instagram is another story where you can chat and scroll through reels. While studying, if you hear a notification sound, your mind might think, "Oh, Shri. Ajit Doval sir texted me, it's an emergency." 😂😂 But when you open it, it turns out to be either your friends or someone special, and you end up chatting for hours.

"reels dekh leta hu thodi der "

This brief period ends when your internet connection drops, or when reality checks like a call from home or nature's call interrupt. Is this much time really fair? I don't think so. A Prime Minister of a certain country, whom I won't name, mentioned that social media companies use malicious techniques to show you content that keeps you hooked for a long time and brainwashes you.

And the gentleman mentioned that their CEOs and their children do not have accounts on it. This observation raises a multitude of questions about the nature of social media and its influence on society. It suggests that even those at the pinnacle of corporate success recognize the potential pitfalls associated with engaging in online platforms. The decision of these influential figures to abstain from social media could indicate a belief that the risks outweigh the benefits, a sentiment that deserves further exploration.

There is a system in place that discourages people from breaking free from these structures. This system, often referred to as the "status quo," can be seen in various aspects of our lives, from the way social media algorithms are designed to keep users engaged to the societal pressures that compel individuals to conform to certain behaviors. The pervasive nature of these structures creates an environment where questioning or stepping outside the established norms can feel daunting or even impossible. As a result, individuals may find themselves trapped in a cycle of consumption, unable to escape the grasp of these platforms that prioritize engagement over genuine human connection.

"Give people bread and entertainment, and they will never revolt."

This quote encapsulates a powerful truth about human behavior and societal control. It suggests that by providing basic needs and distractions, those in power can maintain a level of complacency among the populace. The implications of this statement are profound, especially in the context of the digital age, where entertainment is readily available at our fingertips. The constant barrage of content can serve to numb critical thinking, divert attention from pressing issues, and ultimately stifle the desire for change or rebellion. As we navigate this landscape, it is crucial to remain vigilant and aware of how these dynamics play out in our daily lives.

Online activities have a significant impact physically, mentally, emotionally, and more. They diminish your creativity, patience, stability, etc. The act of scrolling through feeds filled with curated images and highlight reels can lead to feelings of inadequacy and dissatisfaction with one's own life. The constant comparison to others can erode self-esteem and foster a sense of isolation, even in a world that is more connected than ever. Moreover, the addictive nature of these platforms can disrupt our attention spans, making it increasingly difficult to engage in deep, meaningful activities that require focus and dedication. In essence, while technology has the potential to enhance our lives, it also poses significant challenges that we must confront and address.

True socialization involves meeting people, understanding their perspectives, and building connections. It is about engaging in face-to-face conversations, sharing experiences, and cultivating relationships that enrich our lives. While social media isn't entirely bad; it's a good platform for finding friends, business opportunities, and updates, it is veering off course. The superficial interactions often fostered on these platforms can lead to a dilution of genuine connection, where likes and comments replace heartfelt conversations. We need to address this and strive for a balance that allows us to harness the benefits of technology without sacrificing the quality of our relationships.

"Don't compromise your values for content."

These lines express most of my points. Reflect on them. They serve as a reminder that integrity and authenticity should remain at the forefront of our online interactions. As we navigate the complexities of the digital world, it is essential to remain true to ourselves and our values, resisting the temptation to engage in behaviors that do not align with who we are. This reflection is vital in ensuring that our online presence is a true representation of our beliefs and principles, rather than a mere reflection of trends or popular opinion.

Let's conclude this blog because there's much more to discuss on this topic. The conversation surrounding social media, its impact on society, and our individual lives is ongoing and ever-evolving. I'll share more next time, so stay tuned for deeper insights and discussions that challenge our perceptions and encourage us to think critically about our digital choices.
