What's wrong with the Indian education system??
Raising a very real concern, and many students in India feel the same pressure.
Parents often treat science students as more "intelligent," while commerce or humanities students are seen as having "settled for less."This makes the system unsuitable for students who learn differently or excel in practical or creative fields. There's a deeply ingrained belief that only science (engineering/medical) leads to success.
Coaching Culture and Competition the obsession with IITs, NEET, CA, etc., creates unhealthy competition.
Students lose creativity due to pressure and standardized learning.
What Needs to Change:

Recognizing every stream as valuable.
Encouraging exploration and interest based learning. Providing real career guidance early in school. Promoting internships, hands-on experiences, and real-world skills.
It was the time when I was promoted to class 11, probably it was my first day to school after 10th.
As I was passing by my previous class, I heard a familiar voice calling out my name. When I turned my face to that class, I saw my chemistry teacher. I went over there and greeted her.
The conversation went like this -
Teacher : So, what stream did you choose?
Me : I opted for commerce ma’am.
Teacher : What!!? Why!!? You are a bright student .I never expected this from you. I had a feeling you'd take science.. But commerce? -_-
Me : Nothing Ma’am. I don’t have any interest in science.. that’s why I didn’t choose it.
Teacher : But.. every student who does well in academics has taken science. I think you made a mistake, you’ll regret about it later.
I mean… Seriously? That's what a TEACHER said.
At least, we seek some hope in the educated person that (s)he will understand that choosing commerce/humanities doesn't make you any less in academics.
Teachers must understand that if a student is in the commerce/arts stream, this does not mean that the student is either average or below average. They also become successful in their lives.
Indian parents and teachers are obsessed with Engineering/medical careers only.
Ques - What is wrong with Indian education system?
Ans - Schools only offer medical and non-medical streams to top-scorers. Sadly, this makes the teachers and parents encourage smart kids to take up a career in medical and engineering without even considering their interest and skills.
If you're a bright student choosing commerce, that’s not a downgrade. Success isn't defined by your stream, but by what you do with it. Many top CEOs, entrepreneurs, and innovators came from commerce or humanities backgrounds.
